20mph

From March 2025 Farringdon Parish Council Minutes

20mph speed limit Upper Farringdon – (Cllr Prynne) Idea muted to consider a 20mph speed limit for the centre ‘square’ of UPPER FARRINGDON. Church Road / The Street / Hall Lane / Crows Lane and the BOAT (New Road), due to near collisions almost daily involving mainly delivery vehicles (the numbers of which have increased dramatically since Covid), coaches and lorries and speeding cars. Pedestrians have no pavements (except a short stretch between the top of Church Road and Parsonage Close) and play roulette, often having to dive into hedges or driveways. It was initially going to be a proposal to survey residents of the central ‘square’ of Upper Farringdon. However, this was argued against by most Councillors (only 2 were for this) and during question time from members of the public and in writing from some residents. So, Farringdon Parish Council will take no further action on the 20mph suggestion.
