Road Safety
There have been concerns raised about road safety since the removal of the white lines on the A32 Gosport Road. The Parish Council has a working party who have been liaising with Hampshire County Council to come up with improvements in road safety. This is an ongoing project and once we have a working document we will share with you, the residents. Please bear with us, unfortunately these things take time.
During the 2017/2018 Financial year Farringdon Parish Council purchased 2 traffic management devices, which can be located, temporarily, at various sites around the village. In early 2022, a new Speed Indicator device was purchased which displays the drivers speed and a happy/angry face as appropriate.
The devices measure the speed of approaching cars and signal a reminder to drivers that the speed limit in Farringdon is 30mph. Farringdon is one of the few villages along the A32 that has a 30mph speed limit.
The devices can collect data such as the Date, time, speed of vehicles.
We are implementing 'Pedestrian' signage on Gosport Road between the Industrial Centre and Street House Farm.
